Friday's Favs on a Monday

Shannon and I decided that Fridays would now be Friday’s Favs on 2 A DayZ – a day when we each post our favorite thing of a particular topic. But since I am really excited about this concept and because we missed this past week, I decided that we are just going to post our favs today to get it started.

Today’s topic is…BOOKS!

I have been on a reading kick this past year and read multiple amazing books. However, my most recent favorite has to be Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell. If you have not read this book yet, please please do so… you will not be disappointed. It is the reason why I remained sane during the 13 hours that my Ireland to NYC flight was delayed.

Since I don’t believe my writing skills would give this book an adequate summary, I have inserted Amazon’s “Book Description" below...

A six-foot-five-inch Texan, Leading Petty Officer Luttrell takes us, blow-by-blow, through the brutal training of America's warrior elite and the relentless rites of passage required by the Navy SEALs. He transports us to a monstrous battle fought in the desolate peaks of Afghanistan, where the beleaguered American team plummeted headlong a thousand feet down a mountain as they fought back through flying shale and rocks. In this rich, moving chronicle of courage, honor, and patriotism, Marcus Luttrell delivers one of the most powerful narratives ever written about modern warfare-and a tribute to his teammates, who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

It is really an amazing and moving story that opened my eyes to the sacrifices that are made every day. It is insane (in an amazing way) and made me very grateful for those who risk their lives everyday for America. And it absolutely made me grateful to be American!

Happy reading and hopefully S will remember to post her fav today,
e

Oh, and The Hunger Games series, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series, Something Blue series, Chasing Harry Winston and anything Elin Hilderbrand are also MUSTMUSTMUST reads...
