Castles, Kings and Halloween things

I believe it was Einstien who first proved that of all the weekends Halloweekend is the funnest. I'm glad I can agree with Ernie and confirm that my past two Halloweens at Villanova have been two of my favorite weekends at school. So you can imagine my confusion when I was told by my favorite bartender in London that Londoners only really started getting into the whole dressing up thing 5 years ago...BUT to my surprise this weekend definitely lived up to my October 31st standards.

On Saturday (Saturday before Friday? It's like dessert before dinner. Just go with it) we did an impromptu pub crawl along the Thames River. Each pub had a prefect combo of Halloween style beverages (witches brew, mulled cider, etc.), a paragraph about the history of each pub (see mom I'm learning!) and all around good holiday vibes. So yes I may have been the only one in costume, but who's going to look at me when they could be looking at this view of the Thames:

For the crawl, I decided I wanted to be Dora the Explorer. My friends in regular Saturday clothes confirmed the fact that I looked strange? Yes. So when a little British nugget of a girl asked her mom if she could get a picture with Dora I was shocked. I honestly can now die happy. I had my celeb moment, and I am completely content that my 15 seconds of fame involved me being dressed like a Spanish cartoon explorer.

Friday was really fun too. It went something like this:

Sunday got real touristy real fast. We took a bus to Shakespeare's birth place, Oxford college and Warwick Castle. All I have to say is 1. If I was Shakespeare I would "to be or not to be" in that town 2. Oxford is the Hogwarts for non-wizards and I wanted to get involved 3. Castles aren't pretty.

And Erin you'd be proud to know that I almost bought a sword at the castle but I knew you wouldn't approve... So I bought a wand instead :)

Happy Halloweeen
